Be an Ambassador of What You Believe In

Live your beliefs and you can turn the world around.
Henry David Thoreau

Imagine, for a moment, how different the world would be if we all put action to our beliefs.

Beliefs like... All beings deserve unconditional love and compassion... I also am worthy of unconditional love and compassion... My health and well-being are important... Waking up an hour earlier would benefit me greatly... Patience is a virtue... and others.

Now, imagine again, how different YOUR world would be if you put action to YOUR beliefs.

Today, I give you a challenge: Be an ambassador of what you believe in. Today, let all your actions be guided by your core beliefs — be a brilliant example of them. Resist "the easy way out" emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. The easy way out might come in the form of losing your patience with someone, or withholding kindness or help because you are irritated or busy. It might come in the form of skipping your workout because you don't feel like doing it. Or not taking time out of your day to meditate. It could be as simple as entertaining a self-hating thought or speaking a self-hating word.

Take stock of your core beliefs by writing them down. The action of writing has a way of really searching the mind and cementing ideas into reality, so I highly recommend it. Include quotes that you resonate with. One of my favorites is by a very well-known spiritual teacher: "If anything is worth doing, do it with all your heart." Simple ideas that you believe in and can see yourself living up to. Once you've written them all out, you will have a guideline to go by when you find yourself acting habitually in ways that don't hold up with your beliefs.

You won't always need a guideline. As you forge new habits that are aligned with what you believe in, they will become a way of life.

A way of life that is aligned with all that you believe in. This has the potential to change lives in beautiful, profound ways. Doesn't that sound amazing?

Let's start today.
